.....long time no update, more to come.... ....but yeah, i'm buying a house....crazy! |
| Tuesday, December 7th, 2004 | | 7:35 am |
Long time no post.... Alot of things have been happening lately. Work is good, I've been there a year now, looking forward to a nice raise. Finally met someone, she is awsome, its crazy how nice it is, it's been a long time, she is amazing. Gonna be heading back to Winnipeg for the holidays, should be fun. Oh, and I got my self a Christmas present. My old headphones died (RIP-1998-2004) so I went out and got these. They are pretty insane and sound like gold. Woudn't mind finding somekind of carrying case or something to transport them in so I don't risk damaging them. Anyways work time. |

déja vingt-huit ans...
Yup, I turned 28 today, well technically yesterday in relation of the time of this posting (the 9th). Haven't updated this journal in a while. Really nothing new to report. Cought a cold Friday, so yeah, I'm a bit sick on this birthday long weekend (perfect timing). Went out to PizzaDelic with phrawzty, fishead and lola_joan for well, pizza. Then went to the Zinc for a beer and came back here with some Keith's. Good times, good friends. So hopefully this cold fucks off quickly, I think tomorrow I will torture it with some excessive amounts of spice. I'll try to update this thing more often as well. cheers. |

hmm..
So last night after work my bank card gets refused when trying to buy some beer at the dep. I then try at an ATM, same deal. Get home and try to check my account online (I know I have money in there), still no go. There's a message waiting for me. It's my bank saying that my Interac card was canceled due to a possible fraud attempt. Hmm, that's not good. Call the bank's help line. I am told that apparently my card along with many others were skimmed somewhere (could be an ATM that's been fitted with the thing or from a merchant swiping an additional reader when I'm not looking). Sure, they still need your PIN to do anything but you never know. Don't know too many details but I know that I had to find a bank opened today (and there was one....infukingcredible!) and get a new card. No money missing. Current Mood: nervous |

chillin'
Ah, Another 4 day weekend. Yesterday was Canada Day and I took today off. Got an invite in the mail from one of my good friends in Winnipeg who's getting married. I really want to try going. I'm pretty sure I can book 1 day off and go for the weekend (first week of Sept.). Checked airfare. At first I was like wow! Nice! 99$ there and 99$ back....SCORE! I then clicked on the next button to see the after taxes total.... --------------- Fare Summary Departing airfare (Tango) Rules** 99.00 Returning airfare (Tango) Rules** 99.00 Airfare 198.00 Navcan and Surcharges 46.00 Canada Airport Improvement Fee 33.00 Taxes Canada Security Charge 11.21 Canada Quebec Sales Tax (QST #1000-043-172) 21.70 Canada Goods and Services Tax (GST/HST #10009-2287) 20.17 Number of Passengers 1 Total 330.08 ------------- Holy fuck! Talk about Ass RApe. The roundtrip airfare is 198, the taxes and surcharges are 132.08!!! Almost like paying twice! Those disposable airline headphones must have gone up in price! I guess it's still not too bad considering I'm paying almost 600 for my trip down there at the end of this month. We'll see. |

4 day weekends are nice
Yeah, took Friday off so that plus Thursday (St Jean) and the regular weekend = 4 days of laziness. It's almost like a mini pre-vacation. I am taking a 1 week-ish vacation at the end of July 22-Aug 1st in Wpg. I didn't have Friday off but took it off, same with next week, so that means another 4 day weekend next week (Canada day)...ahh...that's nice. I now have Air Conditioning in my room. Bought myself a window unit last week. Had to build myself a custom shelf and hook-up as my windows here are all fucked up in size. But man, it's nice...It's not much of a lifesaver right now, but when the 40+ heat and humidity hits, I'll be in heaven. Work is going good, I've gotten word that I'll be taking over full time webmaster duties from a co-worker for one of our big clients for the next 4-6 months. Not the most exciting thing to work on but good experience and it looks deluxe on a resume. Things are doing alright, except for the social life...it's quite silent. Go out here and there, not too much. The love life...well just does not exist. It seems to be the one thing I can't get going. The single life is nice and all, but after almost 2 years of ...well, NOTHING... it's getting old. On another note, I was walking around the city the other day and got that feeling I get alot here, man I love this place, the life, the culture, the sounds, the activity and atmosphere is still ever as fresh as it felt as when I got here 3 years ago. still alive...
I know I haven't posted in a while. I haven't been away from the computer, just been busy with other things on it. Been messing around alot with music apps, mostly Reason. Playing around with unfinished tracks and countless patterns....lots of fun. I've also been making some loops for work. They're going to be putting up a Creative portfolio online to showcase what we can do. Should be cool. Job is going good, pretty busy, still enjoying it. Girlfriend? That would be nice. Sent in my tax returns yesterday. Now I'll wait till they get a hold of me so we can arrange a payment plan (I owe them money because of untaxed contracts I had). Another monthy expense that adds itself to the studentloan/rent/bills/food/metrocard super bundle. Ah well, one day I'll be debt free....and have a girlfriend! |

microsite done
Finished this up today at work. Took about 3.5 days of work, not too much overtime. On to the next project tomorrow. Current Mood: hungry |

whoa....
Well, came home from work about 30 mins ago. Nice 13 hour day for me. Last minute micro-website for a potential big client had to be ready for tomorrow. Did 36 pages in 3 languages (french, english and portuguese)today. There's a few more but the client has not given us the content yet (as usual). This could mean more overtime tomorrow and possibly over the weekend. I don't mind to much($) as it's tax time and I owe over a grand to THE MAN (fuck's sake) because of various un-taxed contracts. Sucks, I'll have to setup a payment plan with them (can't afford to pay all of it at once)....great just one more thing to pay every month (bills, rent, food, student loan...) Current Mood: tired |

valentine's present....
...for myself. Well it's Valentine's day. I don't have a special someone to share it with. So Thursday I decided to buy myself a gift with the extra cash I made working overtime. Got myself a new videocard for the computer. The ATI 9800pro. It was expensive, it's fast as hell and will probably last a while. So yeah, vidz all weekend for me with a hot date called Radeon. Current Mood: geeky |

long day at work...
...all 11.5 hours of it. 10 hours yesterday, 9.5 the day before and more to come this weekend. Integrating a medium sized web site portal for Bell's small-medium business services. About 40 pages, french+english(so like 80). Has to be mostly ready for Monday as quality control will take over. I'm working only with a programmer on this one. Ah...the overtime $$ should be pretty nice. |

laid back day....
Had a pretty laid back day at work today. It was "jour C" which is short for "journée création". About 20 of us from the studio went to the town of Trois-Rivières for a day of creative workshops and planning. Was pretty cool. I just got word that the big site I`ve been working on since I got there is now live. Finally! A very corporate website but fun to make anyways: www.bce.ca I think a beer is in order. Cheers. |

haven't been updating this thing too much lately...
Work is going good. Getting pretty busy over there, finishing off a huge web site for a big client, the thing goes live at the end of the week, lots of last second testing and tweaking, and of course the client decides to change things here and there. I'm hopping on a few other new projects this week as well. Busy but that's how I like it; fire up dreamweaver, photoshop and all available web browsers, put on headphones, crank the sound and turn into a page building machine. So this area of the life is doing good....now I need some work on the social life/girlfriend section. NO progress in that area. I admit I haven't really been trying on my end, but I've always been like that. I'm not the go talk to someone/pick up type of person. I've always waited and eventually something good would happen. Friends and family tell me this too-"someone will come along...don't worry..." It's been 2 years now, I do get a bit worried at times. Not so much because I don't think I'll ever find someone but more that I'm starting to forget what it's like to have that special someone. I miss the emotions, the feelings and the warmth. I just don't know where to begin on this one. Current Mood: lonely |

holidays are over...
Had a good one. Got back late Thursday night. Got a nice bird's eye view of the city as the plane was approaching the airport (flew right past downtown). Had a great time in Winnipeg with family and friends. I didn't get to see everyone I wanted to but I'll make up for it next time. Been spending my last days off relaxing, playing records and vids. Cleaned up the aquarium and got my fish their Christmas feast (15 medium sized goldfish). Got to get back into wake up early mode, been sleeping in since last week. Hope everyone had a good one. cheers. |

good ol' Winnipeg...
Having a good holidays here in the hometown. Nice to see family and friends. Lots of beer, food and snow outside. The whole thing almost got screwed up on the way here. My flight out of Montreal was 1 hour late. It`s a 1.3 hour flight to Toronto and from there a 2 hour one to Winnipeg. I had 45 minutes between flights....But my plane left 1 hour after we had boarded. Apparently some lady had one of those ride-on old-people scooter things. They brought it at the last second without telling the airline. So we wait for an hour on the plane while they were taking the thing appart for transport safety issues. I was like FUCK, If I miss my plane in Toronto....it means that I'm spending Christmas night alone in Toronto in a hotel.....yay. The pilots cranked up the speed on the flight and we got there on time. Close call. I always feel weird coming back here. Not a bad weird. So quiet here, not used to that. Lots of old memories come up, some of the best and some not so great. Trying to get a hold of people I haven`t seen for a year. Hope everyone had a good xmas. I must go, there is some Foie-gras waiting for me downstairs...hehe. Current Mood: good |
